Access to Capital Grants Fund

The Access to Capital Grants Fund is a $1 million grants pool intended to supplement loans from the Redevelopment Loan Fund to rebuild low- and moderate-wealth communities and to increase their capital assets. It enables the faith community to pool grants and leverage other, more sizeable, housing and community development investments from the Redevelopment Loan Fund and elsewhere, including banks and public financing entities.

Access to Capital grants are used to establish connections between community organizing efforts and community investment initiatives. The grants provide equity to stabilize Redevelopment Loan Fund borrowers and to make mortgages more affordable for retail home buyers in low-income communities. Grants may also be used to underwrite predevelopment costs of deals that will be financed by the Redevelopment Loan Fund, or to support financial literacy programs that will help to qualify borrowers from organizations to which the Redevelopment Loan Fund makes loans. Finally, Access to Capital grants may be used to underwrite prospective Redevelopment Loan Fund investments or assist with monitoring and reporting on Redevelopment Loan Fund loans.
